Lots of frogging and re-crocheting later ...

... I have a big hexagon ...

... and another one!  The blanket wasn't going to do well, with two girls having to share it!  So I think two big cushions or floor cushions for their room is a safer bet. 

And now I will carry on weaving in those ends!

When I get bored of the ends, I have a bit of this going on ...

I did manage to finish off my set of six tea glasses!

cushions, cushions and more cushions

WARNING: This post may be a little cushion crazy!

My latest, finished crocheted cushion ... 

Rustic?  Home-made? 

It's inside-out! Had ya there!

After finishing the woven cushion, I decided that I just had to finish the others that were sitting in a basket somewhere, back-less. 

It got me thinking about all the different ways one can put together a crocheted cushion.  Here are some:

Recycling old sweaters

That is what I've done in that top picture and a method that Lucy outlines here.

I've also used the Neat Ripple Pattern for the rippley front.  That was my first ripple attempt.

Another one that had been waiting to be finished ...

The Wool-Eater pattern.

Both have recycled jumpers as backs.

Crocheted back with buttons

I did this for one of the first cushions I crocheted.  

Crocheted back without buttons

This is a non-removable cover where the two sides are single-crocheted together.

Stitching the crocheted cover on to a cushion cover (a bit of a cheat!)

Stitching a crocheted cover IN TO a cushion cover

I haven't done this yet.  But what I would do is to start by stitching the crocheted piece on to some nice fabric and then use a great tutorial like this to make up a zippered cushion.

I really want to try this one out next. In sha Allah.

Then, with all of the bigger cushions finished off, you can go and make some tiny ones.

  

 

Do bear in mind that if you have little girls in your household, those tiny ones will be snatched up as soon as they're off the hooks!

another cushion?

Oh yes it is! Except this is one of those "FINALLY!" ones.  I had to keep taking out of the shadows to work on it.

 

It's another Sarah London pattern/idea that I'd been wanting to try.  Can you tell I like her work?  I started it AGES ago.  First the mesh.  Then the chains.  Then the weaving. 

The task of actually making the square in to a cushion was daunting.  I ended up stitching it on to one of our old cushions and it seems to have worked. 

I'm so glad that it's done!  Now I should lay into another one of my unfinished crochet projects!

It's Thursday again? So soon?  The start of my weekend... 

Was I going on about a cushion in my last post? 

Erm ... yes.  And my creative space this Thursday seems to have yet more cushions in it.

Can you ever have too many cushions?

Especially when they are little tiny ones that are perfect for pins, needles, hair clips and more pins.  

Especially when darling daughters and their friends are pleading asking nicely for them.

aqua red radiant

I have quite a few crochet cushions on the go.  One has been completed (after some frogging for re-sizing)!

Like I said before, it's a pattern I've been wanting to try out for ages.

  

It starts off looking as though you've done something wrong ...

 

... but it comes together at the end.

And didn't you think I was crazy for crocheting blankets in the middle of the desert?  Ok, not quite middle of the desert.  But it has actually been cool enough round these parts to warrant some blanket usage. Really.

tea mats and other tails

Yarn tails that is! I saw this pattern and decided I wanted to give these a go myself. They might even get used! Anyone for tea?

As I was hooking along on the hexalicious blanket, I decided to make some changes. I re-did the outer rounds of the hexes because I didn't like the other joining method I'd been using and went back to the original one.

I also discovered some colour combinations that I really like and started on this Candy Cushion using the Wool Eater pattern.

And now, for those of you that are getting really fed up with the crochet craze, here's something a bit different, pastel play!

cushion comforts

Soon after I had my last child (baby no. 4) I was inspired by fellow bloggers to take up crochet. Let's just say, with cyberspace loaded with tutorials and patterns and a great online community, I was hooked!

Since then, I've been flitting between projects, trying out new patterns, sticking with those that I like and frogging those that are just not "me".

The trusty Granny Square has been a firm favourite from the start. I crocheted this big square quite some time ago.

Eventually, it became ...

Last year, on a trip back to the UK, I picked up some yarn and fell in love with this square.

I took my time with this one but I'm so happy to reveal that these squares ...

It's great to have it finally done and finished (Alhamdulillah)!
